Detention Security Hollow Metal Doors and Frames
Product Testing & Specification Compliance
ASP engineers and manufactures its security products to the strictest architectural criteria and testing standards. ASP products have undergone years of continually upgraded certification testing, administered and witnessed by authorized testing laboratories. Tests include impact and destruct testing whereby doors and frames are subjected to repeated 200 lb. blows from mechanical battering rams simulating thousands of blows, prison abuse, and riot conditions. Successful completion and certification of these stringent testing requirements is one of the many prerequisites necessary to be an approved manufacturer of prison products.
ASP detention doors and frames have been performance tested and achieved compliance with the following guidelines and standards:
HMMA 863 – Guide Specifications for Detention Security Hollow Metal Doors and Frames.
ASTM F 1450 – Standard Test Methods for Hollow Metal Swinging Door Assemblies for Detention and Correctional Facilities.
American’s detention doors have successfully met Security Grade Level 1 criteria in specified performance tests including:
- Door Assembly Impact Tests
- Door Static Load Tests
- Door Rack Load Tests
- Door Edge Crush Tests
ASTM F 1592 – Standard Test Methods for Detention Hollow Metal Vision Systems
American’s detention side light and multi light frame assemblies have successfully met Security Grade Level 1 criteria for the “Vision System Impact Test”.
ASTM E 152 – Standard for Fire Tests of Door Assemblies
American’s fire door assemblies have been tested in accordance with ASTM E 152 and each rated opening bears the FM (Factory Mutual) Approval mark certifying compliance with tested fire resistance rating construction guidelines.
ASTM E 283 – Standard Test Method for Determining Rate of Air Leakage Through Exterior Windows, Curtain Walls, and Doors Under Specified Pressure Differences Across the Specimen.
